Original
- 1 oz Campari
- 1 oz Fernet Branca
- 1⁄2 oz gin
- 1⁄2 oz sweet vermouth
- 1⁄2 oz dry vermouth
- 2 dashes Bitters (orange works well)
- 1 orange slice
Shake with ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass or over ice in rocks glass. Garnish with orange.
My modified version:
- 3/4 oz Campari
- 3/4 oz Fernet Branca
- 1 oz gin
- 1⁄2 oz sweet vermouth
- 1⁄2 oz dry vermouth (Dolin)
- 2 dashes Bitters (orange works well)
- 1 orange slice
My version cuts down on the strong Fernet taste but still remains a nice bitter cocktail. I tried lemon in place of orange…stick with the orange. I also tried a little salt (since I’m fond of the Salted Negroni so much) – leave the salt aside…it does nothing for this drink.
