Having been going to Bar Marco for a long time I’m surprised it took us so long to get to the Wine Room. We finally went with the Armknechts and now I wish we had gone sooner.
The Wine Room is below the bar at Bar Marco – in the basement of the old firehouse. The room seats 10 and is part dining room, part wine cellar. Dinner is a seven course fixed menu with an optional wine paring. The staff does a great job making it a relaxed environment making sure you are comfortable with a nice glass of wine at your fingertips.
It’s not family style but you are at a single table for ten so you get to meet new folks and that makes for a fun evening.
Food is very good – each course is small which, since there are seven of them, is a good thing. The paired wines we had were a great mix (Austrian, French…White, Red, Cider) and were described before each course by our knowledgeable waiter.
Dessert was a little sweet for my taste and the menu was a bit seafood heavy but overall it was a great experience – we’ll be going back again for sure.
