Our first visit to Grit & Grace was shortly after they opened and unlike a number of first visits this one could not have been better.
The staff knew what they were doing, food was prepared very well and things all seemed to work as if they had been together for awhile.
The interior is very modern and clean. Â They have a decent sized bar and both communal tables and standard four person tables. Â They do offer a “strolling” Dim Sum service which makes for a unique dinner. Â Since they have the Dim Sum we didn’t order a traditional main course, we picked our way through several of the Dim Sum offerings; Steak tartare, beets, chicken skin & liver – we also had a few of their “small plates”
- Short ribs, cream cheese biscuits, aged white cheddar cheese, hollandaise
- Pickled dates, apple, pear, manchego cheese, oat crumble
- Grilled chicken thighs, tare, house made Kim Chi (this was excellent)
We also had dessert which was very good. Â A play on cereal and coffee was unique but the broken down apple pie with cheezit sprinkles was excellent.
Similar to their other restaurant, Spoon, the food was presented very artfully, almost to good to eat. Â We only had wine, no drinks from the bar as we had stopped at Andy’s beforehand, but they do have an interesting cocktail offering including a spanish drink you share with others by drinking out of a long spout.
That’s on the list for our next visit…
