Crested Duck Charcuterie

While it took us a while to get to the Crested Duck Charcuterie we knew, from having had some of their homemade sausages in the past, that it was going to be good.

For us it’s a little off the normal path (it’s in the South Hills so that means a tunnel) but it was worth the trip. The intimate restaurant sits right next to their retail outlet and best guess, it holds 18 people tops, which is fine for us. One waiter took care of the entire restaurant; serving, clearing and opening wine (they are a BYOB.) Service was outstanding, our waiter talked us through all the options for starters and dinner.

We ending up having

  • Charcuterie Plate
  • Cheese Plate
  • Pickle Plate
  • Chicken Meatballs – soy & ginger sauce, serrano, sesame, fresh egg yolk
  • Angel Food Cake – fruit preserves, sorrel

Everything was well presented and tasted fantastic. I was a little hesitant of the pickled okra but they turned out to be very tasty. The mole dried sausage was very tasty and the meatballs were a surprisingly good dinner choice.

We’ll be going back for sure.
