While we’ve been to the US Capitol many times, we had never done much more than the standard tour. Eagled eyed Mary Catherine saw a small group tour that we joined for the Senate halls.
Turns out, they are amazing. The small tour makes the visit more fun – you get to learn about the construction of the capitol (8,909,200 pounds of ironwork!) then up the steps to tour the halls. Painted by the same individual that painted the Apotheosis of Washington, the halls are adorned with scenes of America. Eleven years of painting and they had the foresight to leave room for future accomplishments (The moon landing) and events (the Challenger disaster). A tour well worth your time.
Now go find that ladybug 😉
